It should be no surprise to anyone to hear that sanitation in the workplace is important. This was apparent even before the pandemic. The last thing any facility manager, property manager, or building owner would want to worry about is dealing with an outbreak in their building. Having hand sanitizer dispensers throughout the facility and encouraging the use of masks/PPE is a good start, but may not be enough to stop the spread entirely. Large-scale sanitation initiatives, like Workplace Health & Safety plans, are highly beneficial. Sharing best practices and educating your employees can contribute towards preventing outbreaks. Preventative actions such as high-touch and electrostatic disinfection, air purification, and the addition of touchless fixtures are also something to add to your arsenal.

Make Sure you are Equipped

Your supplies and PPE will need to stay stocked. Having a program such as this can safeguard you from running out of critical supplies – especially when you need them the most. Your employees need to use these supplies to help uphold health safety standards. This also includes ensuring your employees are informed on the importance of keeping a clean work environment. Having things at your desk, like food remnants, are likely to create a breeding ground for germs. Educate your employees about why it’s important to keep their work areas clean and provide tips for doing so.

Sanitize, sanitize, sanitize!

High-touch and high-traffic areas will need to be sanitized on a routine basis. The effectiveness of this sanitation hinges upon the tools and techniques used. While disinfectant wipes and cleaning compounds can aid in this regard, it may not be enough. Every crack and crevice can harbor germs and eventually spread to other surfaces. For this reason, you will need to use techniques such as electrostatic disinfection to neutralize harmful pathogens on all surfaces regardless of shape and size. Electrostatic disinfection also has the added benefit of being able to adhere to awkwardly shaped and hard-to-reach surfaces and crevices.

Another tool at your disposal is an air purification system. Take the EnviroKlenz Air System Plus as an example. Units like this are able to pull viruses and bacteria from the air and use UV-C to irradiate and neutralize them. This is especially beneficial to indoor, enclosed spaces that see a lot of use.
