When will the Vaccine be Distributed and Who Gets it First?
According to Dr. Fauci, we need to gain a better understanding of asymptomatic transmission. He is also urging President-Elect. Joe Biden to focus on an “efficient and equitable way” of distributing vaccines. Fauci says it is likely health care workers and first responders will be the first to receive the vaccine. He says it is almost certain this portion of the population will begin to be vaccinated before the end of December. However, distribution will continue to be cyclical. Hopefully, more and more individuals become vaccinated as the year goes on. Although Dr. Fauci remains optimistic, as he predicts we should be able to see full sports arenas by the end of 2021, COVID-19 will not be eradicated overnight. CDC and other health experts have concluded family gatherings for the holidays are likely to contribute to the spread of the virus.
